Memo from 1C
1c Families,
Spirit Week was a ton of fun. Thank you for helping get everyone set each morning. We have finally rolled past the first 20 days of school and are ready to dig into the meaty curriculum and the full gamut of literacy stations, guided math and more. Next week, we are scheduled to get some special “guests” in the room. You’ll have to watch for the excitement on Wednesday or Thursday. So we chewed up this chunk of the day. However next week, science will take on a big focus….
Assembly

PBIS Video: Here’s the link to our video we produced with our fellow first graders. Shout out to Jeremy for his understanding with the video (unintentionally) missing his “take.” He DID get in the footage in helping his friend explain how to play tag. Sorry, Jeremy!  All our footage was delivered, but the take he had went missing.  Enjoy our first taste of “big screen” adventure.
Homework: We will continue to assign IXL homework again this week. Remember that while I’m not checking every night that you got it done, working on the honor system, you can practice these activities during the week or over the weekend. They will appear on the blog today, and you can catch them by scrolling down below the Minion on the Door.
There is also a weekly Common Core sheet that comes home on Friday. THIS ONE I am keeping track of for completion. I’m trying to return the work that the students are completing, so please empty out those folders. Pluck out CCSS 5 and 6, which is in all folders tonight. We’ve already had 1&2, 3&4.
Seesaw, Remind (text service) and IXL:  The new addition of folders may or may not have affected your Seesaw accounts on Thursday. We began a new step in uploading our work so that we can organize by subject. We now have a reading, writing, math and sciences folders. Your child’s digital portfolio may not look much different, online, but we will be able to sort and tag our work.
Don’t get texts from the teacher?  Don’t worry! The REMIND service is simple! Just text @mrclarey to the number 81010. It would be great to have everyone connected. Never too late to join in.
Volunteers can begin coming in at their scheduled times this coming week. We’ve done such a good job of working through our centers and stations that it’s a perfect time to get some extra hands and eyes in the room.  If ever a volunteer cannot make it, simply send an email. We consider every day you join us a blessing, so not to worry when life takes you away from 1C for a week or more.
Should you need something, please email!
