Welcome to 1C, Class of 2013-14

For those of you who took the bait and came to visit our blog site, thank you! I would like you to bookmark this site as a favorite, as I intend to make it a place where you can share in all the fun and learning that will take place in 1C this school year. My routines are pretty established that I try to update the site on Sundays, and will add new pictures, update our reading Focus Wall with the skills that we are going to cover for the week, as well as update a calendar with events that you will not want to miss. At the moment, you are seeing many photos on the site from last year's class. Feel free to take a look back in time... at some of the fun we had last school year. The goal this year is to utilize the Commor Core State Standards so that our students are getting all the instruction they need in order to be successful in second grade, and beyond. We will find a variety of ways to make that happen, and share that with you here. Among the most memorable pictures posted previously, are the ones that are spontaneous and rich with "student created AWESOMENESS." I hope you find some from last year, and many from this year's version of 1C. Welcome to our new beginning as first graders... It's going to be an amazing journey!

This week, we celebrated Beach Ball Day, Unhealthy Snack Day, and Dress Like a Teacher Day! More fun on the way!

End of Year Countdown - Special Days for Special Children

We will celebrate the end of our school year with some special days. While I'm not a "countdown" kind of guy, I am all for showing our school spirit and dressing up for fun! Here's what to plan for: Friday, May 10: Sports Day. Monday, May 13: Grizzly Day. Tuesday, May 14: Unhealthy Snack Day. You bring it. Wednesday, May 15: Stripes Day. Thursday, May 16: Beach Ball Day. Bring a beach ball with your name on it. Friday, May 17: Dress like a Teacher Day. Monday, May 20: Dad's Shirt Day. Tuesday, May 21: Funny/Crazy Hair Day. Wednesday, May 22: Outside Day. We'll go out for one subject. Thursday, May 23: Neck Tie Day. Friday, May 24: Mismatched Socks Day. Also Outdoor Education Day Tuesday, May 28: All American Day. Wear red, white and blue. Wednesday, May 29: Walking Day. Wear your walking shoes. Thursday, May 30: Hat Day. Friday, May 31: Hawaiian Day. Beach attire, and a beach towel for picnic. Monday, June 3: Secret Game Day
